Inês Correia

Conservation | MUDE – Museu do Design







Inês Correia (b. 1972) is a Senior Conservator. Between 1997 and 2018, she worked in the conservation of manuscripts and historical bindings at the National Archive of Torre do Tombo. She earned her PhD from the Art History Department of FCSH-UNL, supported by FCT, with research on the archaeology of illuminated manuscripts from the Monastery of Lorvão.  


From 2012 to 2016, she taught the course Preservation and Conservation of Information and Documentation at FCSH-UNL. Among her various preservation and conservation projects, notable ones include work in Goa, supported by the Oriente Foundation, in public and private libraries; in Egypt, for the Levantine Foundation, at the Coptic Library of Deir al-Surian; and for UNESCO, in preparing the nomination dossier for the Apocalypse of Lorvão (1189) for the Memory of the World program.  


She attended the doctoral program in Media Art at Universidade Lusófona (2017/18) and is the curator of the exploratory project LivrObjecto – Anatomy and Architecture, which, since 2017, has hosted events at the Olivais Library, Gulbenkian Art Library and Archives, Diferença Gallery, São Lázaro Library, Fábrica Braço de Prata, and the Chiado National Museum of Contemporary Art.  

 She currently leads the Conservation Area at MUDE – Museum of Design and Fashion, is a guest lecturer at DELLI, Lusófona University, and represents Portugal at the European Research Center for Book and Paper Conservation-Restoration.
