Mélanie R. Maia is a senior researcher in UNIDEMI, NOVA FCT, Universidade Nova de Lisboa/Portugal, Integrated member of CHRC, NOVA NMS, Universidade Nova de Lisboa/Portugal and Guest Collaborative Researcher in PICTIS - SecLAB3 Digital Health, FIOCRUZ/Brazil, University of Aveiro/Portugal.

With comprehensive industry and research experience (more than ten years) and holding a doctorate in Global Studies - Global Health (2022), Mélanie focuses on Global Digital Health and Implementation Science. Design Science Research Methodology and Action Research have been the main methodological framework. She is collaborating on several ongoing national and international projects, digital health-related, mainly in the scope of patient safety and professionals’ health and capacity strengthening.
