Marília Silva Paulo has a PhD in Health Policies and Development from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, NOVA University, Lisbon, Portugal. She has been working on implementing the Chronic Care Model within healthcare settings in the UAE. 

 

Dr Marilia is part of three working groups from the joint WHO/ILO initiative for estimating the national and global work-related burden of diseases. She is the co-team leader in this field to estimate occupational exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation and the development of cataracts, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancer. Methodological papers will also be an important outcome of this project, and she is part of the methodological group of experts. Moreover, she is part of the team performing systematic reviews and meta-analyses to estimate the effect of exposure to radiofrequency fields on cancer risk in the general and working population led by the WHO. 

She is part of international organisations like the International Commission on Occupational Health and the European Public Health Association. She was once part of the UAE National Epidemiology COVID-19 Task Force, the Public Health Network, and the UAE Ministry of Environment.
