Geobiotec Leading Management Institution is the University of Aveiro, having two other Management Institution, Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT (NOVA.ID.FCT/FCTUNL/UNL) and Beira Interior University (UBI). Our Staff belongs to several public and private R&D institutions from north to south of Portugal.

GeoBioTec comprises 5 research groups:

• Lithospheric Evolution (LE: coordination Aveiro University)
   
• Complex Environmental Systems (CES: coordination Aveiro University)
   
• Georresources, Geotechnics and Geomaterials (3G)
   
• Sedimentary Basins and Paleontology (SBP)
   
• Agroforestry (AF)
   

The RC has defined several lines of research covering, in a way transversal to the Groups, the following topics: Geodynamics; Radiogenic Isotope Geology; Characterisation of surficial environment processes; Medical Geology; Industrial Minerals and Clay Geology; Geomaterials for Construction, Geoheritage, Geoarqueometry and Restoration Works; Geothermal Resources and Geotechnics; Remote Sensing and Image Processing; Geological Modelling and Geostatistics. The implementation of these Research Lines, transversal to the Groups and putting emphasis on multipolar teams, is a way to boost internal cohesion and cooperation.
