Augusta Lima

Biography

Augusta Lima is Assistant Professor in the Department of Conservation and Restoration at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of NOVA University of Lisbon (FCT/UNL), where she is the responsible for the Laboratory of Conservation and Restoration of Glass and Ceramics. She is also a member of the Research Unit VICARTE – Glass and Ceramics for the Arts. She received her Bachelor in Conservation and Restoration (Glass and Ceramics) and her Master in Conservation and Restoration (Conservation Sciences) from FCT/UNL. In 2005, she spent six months at The Corning Museum of Glass as intern in Conservation. Her PhD thesis, on corrosion of glazes, is being developed in collaboration with the Materials Research Institute from Penn State University (USA). Her research projects focus on the archaeometry of glass and ceramics, the degradation mechanisms of vitreous materials and development of new materials for conservation. Augusta Lima is co-author of several publications in the aforementioned topics.
