The aim of this project is a better understanding of the origins and technological characteristics of the stained glass panels of Palácio da Pena. This collection covers several centuries of the stained glass history – from 14th c. to 19th c. – and the study of these extraordinary panels presents a challenge and grand opportunity to better understand the history of this artistic discipline. To the best of our knowledge, there are no systematic studies on stained glass collections that include both historical and technological elements together, making this a unique project not only in our country but internationally.
