We are delightful to welcome our new colleague Catarina to the MARlab team!

Catarina is a biologist and she's finishing her master's degree in Marine Ecology. She is currently a researcher of the PLASTISPHERE project "Understanding microplastic biota composition and dynamics along the coasts of Israel and Portugal".

The project is led by Dr. Paula Sobral and Dr. Marta Martins. The project aims to contribute to the knowledge of the species that form microbial biofilms that colonise the surface of microplastics. This project will contribute to improve how these new ecological niches can alter the functioning of marine ecosystems.
