Joana Tomás Ferreira is a modern materials conservator currently enrolled in a PhD at NOVA School of Science and Technology (PT) to research synthetic-coated fabrics in fashion collections and develop preventive strategies for their safeguard. Her main research interests have been to work with cultural institutions to find solutions to overcome the challenging preservation of synthetic materials found in their collections. She has been a member of several research projects dedicated to the identification, assessment and development of preventive and green treatment solutions for modern materials, including Glossy Surfaces and, more recently, InBloom.
