Carlos Sousa is a full-time Assistant Professor at FEUP. He defended his PhD thesis at FEUP in 2012 entitled “Analysis of cyclic and long-term effects in continuous precast railway bridge decks”. His research interests include tipe-dependent analysis of cracked reinforced concrete structures, precast concrete bridges, laboratorial testing of structures and materials and fibre reinforced concrete. He is author of 12 publications in international ISI journals, 3 publications in national journals and 53 papers in conferences. He is cosupervisor of 2 concluded and 1 ongoing PhD theses. He was an active member of the research team in two completed research projects with competitive funding, focusing on prefabricated constructive solutions for railway bridges. He is actively involved in consultancy services related to the assessment of existing concrete structures. He teaches the subjects Mechanics of the Materials, Prefabrication, and also Construction Monitoring and Observation.
