Short Bio

Adjunct Professor of Product Design, Innovation Design and Materials at the Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico de Lisboa, where he co-founded and is Technical Coordinator of the FabLab Benfica digital fabrication laboratory. He is a doctoral student in Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, and is developing research work at the Materials Research Center (CENIMAT) of FCT/UNL within the scope of the characterization and optimization of liquid crystalline materials, foreseeing its subsequent application in the field of product design.

Completed tests for the title of Specialist in Design (2016) under the association agreement between the Polytechnic Institutes of Lisbon, Leiria and Santarém. He holds a postgraduate degree in Product Design from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (2005), a degree in Equipment and Space Design from the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies (2001) and a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the Instituto Superior de Humanidades e Tecnologias Lisbon Technologies (1999).

In his professional practice he founded MauMaria. brand design (2004) and co-founded ORTIK, for alpine use (2007), a venture-owned company where he developed several award-winning products for the Outdoor Industry, serving as CEO from 2011 to 2015.
