My doctoral studies in Chemical Engineering were awarded the PhD with a Cum Laude distinction, receiving the Best Thesis Award of University of Vigo, Spain. This followed upon a broad-based scientific education received at the same university. I also obtained an MSc in Quality and Environment Management (accredited by the University Les Heures of Barcelona) and an MSc in Food Science and Technology (University of Vigo).
I hold +15 years of professional track in Innovation, Research and Development. Currently, I am the leader of a research team, where I am directly supervising 3 Post-doc researchers, 5 PhD students, 3 Master students and 1 assistant researcher, integrated in LAQV REQUIMTE Research Unit (within the Research Group of Bio(chemical) Process Engineering) of Lisbon New University, Portugal. My team is focused on the Alternative Fluids for Green Chemistry field where my outcomes clearly demonstrate my leadership.
My experience attests my capacity to adapt to different working environments and overcome the obstacles that new challenges can generate. This career has provided me with solid research know-how in areas including synthesis and thermodynamic behaviour; phase equilibria; solubility mechanism in water and other solvents; separation and purification processes; drug delivery systems; characterization of the self-aggregation behaviour, structures and surface properties of surfactant compounds; extraction processes, modelling and simulation. Besides, my profound knowledge of a wide range of experimental and theoretical tools supports my intellectual creativity and flexibility as researcher.
I am an enthusiastic person that wants to develop new challenges. My previous background provides me the tools and the unique capacity to answer to different challenges contributing to the chemical engineering requests of industry. I am driven by excellence, exploring innovative ideas and terrain so my work can tackle meaningful challenges with benefit to society.
