Spreading and sharing information

One important result of the project will be the sharing and the spreading of the acquired knowledge, to the general public.

It is worth noting that the preservation of cultural heritage is improved by public display, which enables its appreciation. Public awareness of the results of the investigations and the significance of cultural heritage concerning stained glass will be promoted by the creation and production of documentation about the collections studied in the project. These will be made available to the general public.

Within this project both traditional and multimedia materials and hands-on workshops will be created, contributing to the dissemination of the results of this research project, which will enrich the experience of the visitors of the exhibition of this stained glass collection.

Thus, in this task the team will work in different directions:

1) editing of one book gathering historical and iconographical information with the most relevant results of the characterization of materials and techniques used to produce the stained glass panels;

2) disseminating information through newspapers, television and radio, benefiting from the network already established by Parques de Sintra;

3) training visitor guides for the exhibition “Stained Glass and Glass Objects – Ferdinand II’s passion”, providing them the information about the research results in a level that can be assimilated by the general public;

4) producing a web site with multimedia materials for the public, which will include videos, panel images and their rediscovered history, iconography decoding, and details on production techniques;

5) integrating produced multimedia material in Parques de Sintra web page;

6) creating hands-on workshops for the public on traditional production techniques of stained glass, with the participation of some of the researchers involved in the project. The team will also take advantage of the great the experience that Parques de Sintra has in the organization of previous workshops project.
