Research Interests:

Optical characterization of wide band gap materials using absorption, reflectivity, photoreflectivity, steady state photoluminescence, time resolved photoluminescence, lifetime measurements, photoluminescence excitation. For these experiments several excitation sources (eg. lasers and lamps), high-resolution monochromators, phototubes and semiconductor detectors are currently used. Furthermore, besides the analysis of the time and excitation (energy and density) dependence of the emission also the temperature dependence is performed. Typically the analysis is made from 4.2K to RT. Other characterization tools available in the laboratory for semiconductor characterisation such Raman spectroscopy, FTIR and EPR.

Currently several materials (macro to nano) are under study (undoped and intentionally doped with rare earth and transition metal ions):
- Oxides: ZnO and its alloys, TiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, Ta2O5, NbO, LiNbO3, etc
- Nitrides: InN, GaN, AlN and ternary alloys.
