Short CV / research interests:

I finished my graduation in Applied Chemistry (specialization in Biotechnology) in 2010. In my last year I did a traineeship and my final degree project in ionic liquids field. My final project included the synthesis and characterization of ionic liquids based on biological (particularly amino acids) and pharmaceutical ions. During this work I contact with some characterization methods, such as, NMR, FTIR, and absorption and emission spectroscopy.

In 2011, I start to work at REQUIMTE under the supervision of Dr. Luis Branco.

Later, I finished my master thesis in Bioorganic chemistry with the theme "Synthesis and Characterization of novel biocompatible ionic liquids". The main objective of this work was the synthesis of new ionic liquids based on ammonium family. This work allowed me to perform, beyond the usual compound characterization, biological studies (in fungal cells).

Currently, I'm working in a new project which include the synthesis of magnetic ionic liquids based on Fe(III), Mn(II), Gd(III) and Tb(III) complexes as anions combined with biocompatible choline derivatives cations. I´m also preparing novel azamacrocycle ligands to be complexed with specific paramagnetic and/or luminescent metals in order to develop another class of magnetic ionic liquids.
