Sara Babo

Biography

Sara Babo graduated in 2006 at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology - NOVA University of Lisbon (DCR/FCT-UNL), where she also completed her Master in Conservation and Restoration in 2009 with a dissertation covering the study and conservation of two assemblages by the Portuguese artist Lourdes Castro. In 2010 she was a fellow from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Luso-American Development Foundation at the Smithsonian´s Museum Conservation Institute, where she researched on dry and non-contact cleaning methods for acrylic paints and plastics. Between 2010 and 2014 she has worked both as a research fellow/teaching assistant at DCR/FCT-UNL, and as a conservator for several Portuguese art collections, mainly with modern and contemporary painting. Since 2014 she is a CORES PhD fellow. Her main research interests are related with conservation of plastics and contemporary art.
