Ana Margarida Silva

Biography

Ana Margarida Silva holds a bachelor and a master degree in Materials Engineering (2006 and 2008, respectively) by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-UL). Currently, Ana Margarida is developing her PhD thesis in Conservation and Restoration, with specialisation in Conservation Science, at FCT-UNL. Her PhD project is entitled “Crossing Borders. History, materials and techniques of an artist’s book: “La Légende de Saint Julien l’Hospitalier” by Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso”, result of the collaboration between FCT-UNL with IFAC-CNR (Florence, Italy) and Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Her research interests are related with early 20th century artists’ history, materials and techniques, the characterisation of pictorial materials using in situ spectroscopic techniques and the dialogue between social and natural sciences for benefit of cultural heritage.
