Micropollutants

Micropollutants (eg. pharmaceuticals, pesticides, industrial chemicals, heavy metals) are hazardous to the environment and human health even at very low concentrations. Despite the increasingly stringent treatment regulations, they are not fully removed in conventional wastewater treatment plants;

BIOENG is currently focused on:

  • bioaugmentation procedures for removal of pharmaceutical active compounds from wastewater, as well as their human and biodegradation metabolites.
