Welcome to Glycoimmunology Lab

Our group focuses on the physiological and pathological roles of human cell glycans. Glycans are involved in virtually all biological processes, thus influencing the development, growth and functioning of cells and organisms. Our main goals are to identify novel therapeutic targets and to integrate this knowledge into the development of innovative immunotherapies, such as antibody-based approaches and dendritic cell-based vaccines. We have been identifying aberrant glycosylation in cancer cells that enables cancer cell activation, invasion and metastasis, and suppress immune function. In immune cells, our seminal observations have demonstrated fundamental roles of cell surface glycans in modulating immune potency of dendritic cells and their therapeutically potential.
