Biography

Rute Correia Chaves graduated in 2013 at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology – NOVA University of Lisbon (DCR/FCT-UNL). In 2014 she carried out the conservation and restoration of medieval and modern ceramics from Azemmour (Morroco). Later she completed her Master in Conservation and Restoration in 2015, with a dissertation entitled "Medieval and modern ceramics from Azemmour (Morocco) - textural, mineralogical and chemical analysis”, also at DCR/FCT-UNL. Her research focuses in analytical techniques and methods applied to the characterization, study and preservation of pre-historic ceramics, including the study of clay materials and production techniques for a better knowledge of prehistoric ceramic materials, in particular of the Chalcolithic pottery of the Lisbon region.
Since 2016 she is a Ph.D. fellow in Conservation Science, at DCR/FCT-UNL, in partnership with Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (C2TN), Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon University.
